The apostle of charity. His remarkable life began in a peasant's cottage and would involve being captured and enslaved in northern Africa. In France, he clashed with the Jansenist heretics, rescued countless foundling children, and initiated the founding of two great religious orders - the Vincentians and the Sister of Charity. He is responsible for the charitable works being carried on in an organized basis in the Catholic Church today. Imprimatur. |
